Guitar Days in Podgorica – International Guitar Festival

The International Guitar Festival Guitar Days in Podgorica, founded in 2016 by Dr. Srđan Bulatović, is dedicated to promoting guitar music, artistic excellence, and music education in Montenegro.

Dr. Srđan Bulatović, the first Montenegrin guitarist to earn both a master’s degree and a doctorate in classical guitar, has made a pioneering contribution to the development of guitar education in Montenegro. He established the guitar department at the Vasa Pavić Secondary Music School in Podgorica and initiated the introduction of guitar studies at the Music Academy in Cetinje, where he taught for more than a decade.

Over the years, the festival has welcomed distinguished guitarists and musicians from 18 countries: Montenegro, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Austria, Hungary, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Türkiye, Greece, Mexico, Venezuela, Russia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and North Macedonia.

The festival brings together internationally acclaimed performers, established artists, professors, and emerging talents, providing a platform for artistic exchange, professional development, and international collaboration.

The festival’s program includes concerts, masterclasses, workshops, and educational activities, showcasing a diverse range of musical genres, including classical music, flamenco, jazz, world music, and traditional music.

Through its international artistic program and educational mission, Guitar Days in Podgorica contributes to Montenegro’s cultural life, supports the development of young musicians, and strengthens connections between the Montenegrin and international guitar communities.

Over the years, the festival has received support from the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City of Podgorica and the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro.

The festival also maintains longstanding cooperation with the Embassies of Italy, Spain, Greece, and Türkiye, as well as the Yunus Emre Institute and the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade (Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Belgrado).

These partnerships significantly contribute to strengthening the festival’s international reputation, enriching its artistic program, and fostering cultural exchange between Montenegro and other countries.
